Testimonials

Sam came to help us with all three of our dyslexic children, but in particular our youngest son.

Personally I couldn’t recommend him highly enough - both from our children’s view point and ours. I am not sure we would all still be talking if I had been the one trying to tutor our children!

Our experience with Sam has been a huge pleasure all round; not only did he do what might have been an impossible task for others - helping our youngest through his Common entrance, GCSEs and A-Levels  - he did it in a way that meant Felix enjoyed learning, studying and felt supported and understood when the dyslexia caused problems. He had a lot of fun and peals of laughter (alongside some very dodgy Bollywood music) could often be heard whenever they needed a break from studying.

Sam also hugely helped our daughter at GCSE and A-Level. His guidance on how to tackle revision and essays was invaluable and gave her far more confidence.

From a parental and family perspective, Sam was a great addition to our family life as he often did residential tutoring.  He totally spans the generations and couldn’t have been easier to have.

We have all known each other for a good number of years now and is a friend to each of us individually and as a unit.

Sam Reid has been an exceptional tutor to my children from an early age through to, and including, A-levels.

My first impressive memory of Sam was when he took my two children (at prep school age) out into a field to listen to the sounds of nature to inspire them to write a poem.

He does not teach by rote, but inspires through anecdotes and stories to make the subject matter come to life. At the same time, he is incredibly thorough and ensures that all the relevant information is absorbed. My children’s exam results (nearly solid As and A*s) have been testament to the fact that his tutoring is not only enjoyable but also highly effective.

Over the years he has become a friend to my family. I sometimes imagine if I’d been lucky to have been tutored by Sam, my life might have been quite different!

I cannot recommend him more highly.

I would try to write this without sounding corny but it just wouldn’t be possible, because my experience of Sam’s tutoring is so heartfelt.

The way in which Sam teaches is both fun and personal whilst also extremely effective. The hours go by in a flash and are genuinely fun. Sam tutored me throughout my GCSEs and A-Levels. The A-Level tutoring was really special because what Sam is, in my humble opinion, best at is giving niche snippets that bring a subject, topic or concept to life (on top of the necessary content that he knows like the back of his hand), which is crucial for the specialised nature of A-Levels.

Even in the GCSE syllabus, which is mostly fact regurgitation, Sam made subjects exciting and relevant rather than sticking to the world of the textbook. This way of teaching is fantastic because when a subject is related to the world outside of the classroom it sticks with you, allowing you to perform better in essays and exams. His technique is, from my experience, to focus on general understanding and then zoom in from there, which instils a confidence and calmness that is so important for improving and succeeding.

I owe a lot of how I learn and where I am lucky to be learning today [Trinity, Dublin] to Sam.

Sam Reid accompanied our 15-year old son, Max, to Argentina for three months when he was playing polo for Loro Piana. He did a great job supporting Max across the full spectrum of GCSE subjects. When Max returned to school he was not just up to date with the curriculum, but actually ahead of his classmates  – even though there had only been room in Max’s schedule to do lessons in the mornings.

They developed a real rapport over the trip and Max even requested more tutoring from Sam both before his GCSE exams, and during his A-Levels.

I would have no hesitation in recommending him and using his services in the future.

Sam Reid is one of the most inspirational tutors we are lucky enough to have been introduced to. He has remarkable patience and is a pleasure to be with.  Sam has worked over the years with our four sons and has inspired the boys to work hard and achieve exceptional results.

One of our sons struggled at English as he is dyslexic. Sam taught him in such a way that he managed to achieve an A* in his GCSE English - much to the surprise of his school and ourselves!

I could not recommend Sam more highly.

Sam is a fantastic tutor and all-round great guy. We spent a lot of time in Argentina together whilst I was training for my polo career. This was fantastic fun, but also highly productive. With his help I was able to smash my predicted grades at both GSSE and A-Level. I highly recommend his services and feel it would be very difficult to find better.
